Belford Parish includes Belford village, the civil parish of Middleton and Warenton ward. According to 2011 Census figures, 1373 people usually live within the parish, 197 of those being under the age of 15 and 337 being over the age of 65.

In the Northumberland Local Plan, (Core Strategy), Belford is recognised as a Service centre, providing services to other settlements: there are 2 schools, 2 churches, a Health Centre, dentist, Bellview resource centre, a very active community group, shops, hotels and pubs. In addition, there are caravan sites, many self catering businesses, and an industrial estate. Employment is provided by tourism as well as by the many businesses established within the parish.

Belford has a large Conservation Area and there are many listed buildings within the Parish. It includes part of the Northumberland Coast AONB and the rich and varied attractions within North Northumberland are close by.
